Our Vision: Helping Children & Families Reach Their True Potential

Mesa County Partnership for Children and Families

Mesa County Partnership for Children and Families
is Mesa County’s Early Childhood Council

Our team envisions a community with high quality early childhood care and education. We work to improve funding, awareness, support , and access for families throughout Mesa County to positively impact the lives of young children. We collaborate with state and community partners to provide the best possible solutions to those facing barriers in the field.

History:

In 1999 the Early Childhood Partnership, now known as the Partnership for Children and Families, discussed an increase in child mortality rates in Mesa County and the spike in deaths related to child abuse. A community effort emerged to provide preventive and support services to families. The group formalized with a focus on serving pregnant women and children up to 5 years old.

Meanwhile, across Colorado people were recognizing a need to provide stronger support for children and families. PCF began receiving state funding in 2000 as part of the Consolidated Child Care Pilot Project.

In 2007, the Colorado General Assembly established early childhood councils, via legislation (HB 07-1026), to positively impact services for children and families by building an effective and responsive local early childhood system. Having applied for and received council status in that same year, PCF is one of over 30 ECCs across the state.
